Fresh start

First of all a very happy 2010 to everyone. And thank you everyone for your direct or indirect help, support, encouragement, criticism, inspiration, appreciation and wishes. I have had a great time here last year and now looking forward to another great year.

I have been on a long break and this is the first painting I have done in this new year. I felt a bit rusty while doing this painting. Every year the farmer has to gear up and start afresh to grow his crops, irrespective of what has happened in the previous year. Its a fresh start for me too and I hope to do a lot in the coming year.

Thanks Sreeni.

Ramesh, thank you so much. I was painting after a long time and just kept the colors to a monochrome to be safe. That I think helped the painting.

Liz, You are always so sweet and encouraging. Thank you so much.

Hi ...

i have a lot of questions to ask
1) did u make it by imagination or clicking something or seeing it live?

2) why does the density of paddy decreases towards the bottom left corner?

3) do you leave borders in any of your paintings?

I like the shades of trees and their reflection in water and i'm getting inspired to paint/sketch too. guess would post things on my blog very soon.

beautiful ! is this Goa again ?

like how you are moving away from detailing and yet manage to essence of the trees, the water and the fields so well.
Good use of perspective too !!

Anu,
1. Most of the paintings I do are actual locations (with a little modifications if required). And this one is done from a picture I took.
2. You have to ask this question to the farmer. :)
3. No, I do not leave borders.

PC,
Thanks. I knew you would like it.

Sahu aka Gugun,
This is not Goa. This is 'Ama Odisha'. This is the coastal part of Orissa near Puri. This rice crops are grown in off rice season. This is a hybrid variety of rice which is grown in off season and in coastal region in general.
