Kitchen Still life sketch

The other day I sat down with my brush and watercolor pad and started going through my sketch book. I opened randomly and the first sketch that I came across was that of a still life done in kitchen. I decided to do that in watercolor. As I was feeling lazy I did not care to get up and pick up a pencil, just started directly with my brush.

As a result the shapes became too small for the paper. So I kept adding other things from my head around it till I filled up most of the paper.

Because of the monsoons there has hardly been good sunlight out here for last 2 weeks. So the picture did not come out so good. I generally take pictures with my point and shoot in the morning in direct sunlight. It gives me good results.

Nice! I like how you've put 'Mallick' ulta in your sign :)

Wow! This is SO amazing! I am in awe! I wish I was confident enough to work this way. I always feel as though I overwork my watercolours. I love both the sketch and the painting, they are both fantastic!

Riya,
Thanks a lot. That signature style was just for this painting as all objects had reflections and I wanted a similar effect with the signature too. :)

Liz,
Thanks. Even I like the pencil sketch more. Esp the pan.

Only if you had gotten up to get a pencil, we could have a masterpiece here! The sketch is very good, and your painting is awesome...only if the steel pan(with everything around it)was a little bigger, it could have stolen the show! My opinion, strictly:D

Sparrowhawk,
Thank you very much.

Crystal,
It was a lot of fun indeed. Actually not using the pencil gave me that freedom (with imperfections of course) and I enjoyed that freedom.

Prabal said...

Veda,
What is still life for you is portraits for me.

Arti,
Yes, if the steel pan was bigger I would have had hero there. But then may be I would not have painted it with the freedom if I had used a pencil. Getting a little philosophical here. :)

Liana,
I have not done anything to my blog site. Blogger sometimes behaves a bit strangely. But anywhere you finally could get here. So thats good. :)

Very nice! It has such a light airy, feel to it. I think it's fun you were able to keep adding elements to it.

Taking photos of an artwork with a lot of white background can be challenging. But it's pretty easy to fix in Photoshop.

R Garriott,
Thanks for the complement. And thanks for the suggestion too. I'll try and pick up a little photoshop.
