Muvattupuzah - V

Here is the fifth in the Muvattupuzah series. The quality of light in this was something that I would call as damp light. A feeling of wetness and an ambient light when the sun has gone behind the clouds. And the foreground lacking light almost completely.

I feel I could have done better. But still I am happy with this one.

Your paintings are always wonderful! I'm trying water colors too these days. But I feel the paper i use doesn't take water colors too well. Can you please tell me what kind of paper you use and where you get it in Bangalore?

Hi Apni Avani. I use Saunder's waterford 300 gsm cold pressed and sometimes rough too. You can get it from Bhashkar arts in Chitrakala Parisht.

Hi Prabal,
Your painting reminds me of Vancouver, so I do believe you have achieved The "damp light" look. :) It is such a beautiful, soft scene.

You really are a master at painting light and atmosphere Prabal. I almost feel like I am there in person. It's fantastic! :0)

Thank you for explaining ambient light so clearly. I think that makes the difference between a mediocre painting and an exceptional painting. The lighting that is portrayed. I see how you highlighted certain areas to show the atmosphere. Beautiful work!
